Cell phone Early Termination Fees to be considered by the FCC June 6, 2008
Posted by bbbboise in Upcoming Events.trackback
On June 12, 2008 the FCC will hold a public hearing into Early Termination Fees by cell phone companies. The hearing is to address consumer complaints over high fees for early termination contracts, most of which run for two years. Possible FCC oversight of ETF’s, capping them, requiring carriers to prorate ETF’s and prohibiting charging an ETF in the first 30 days of a customers contract are to be covered. Many carriers prorate their ETF’s so a careful reading of your contract may save you money and give you freedom to select a more appropriate plan.
